Researchers from the Finnish Twin Cohort have found a connection concerning subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) and smoking, which is a kind of bleeding stroke that takes place beneath the membrane that shields the brain, and it is majority of the times fatal. As per the researchers, SAH is basically occurring due to external risk factors rather than the genetic association. The latest study published in Stroke has been able to confirm that smoking does have a significant influence on the brain. And studies have shown smokers to fall prey to the fatal brain bleeding disease. The smokers especially the ones who smoke almost 20 per day at higher risk of having their brain bleed until their death.

Furthermore, the influences of low physical activity, high blood pressure, and lazy showed no link with the fatal brain bleeding disease. Also, both men and women showed smoking to have similar effect on the brain that is SAH. However, the aneurysmal and non-aneurysmalorigins of SAHs still have to be examined for supporting the current hypothesis. The latest study conducted on the twins is no doubt a major breakthrough in confirming the link between subarachnoid hemorrhage and smoking. It is quite surprising so see the effect of constant smoking in causing the brain to bleed in the long run.

But, the researchers have confirmed that the genetic aspects have no role to play in case of subarachnoid hemorrhage and it is majorly got to do with the external factors. It is thus preferred to either quit smoking so as to lower the risks of fatal brain bleeding event from happening.
