Researchers from the University of Texas at Arlington have recently uncovered findings that have made it extremely clear that digital copies or avatars of humans could soon have the capability to replace an entire sales force associated with customer service employees solutions. The research further quotes that the following task is expected to be achieved within a fraction of the cost of the real-world implications. In the context of the study, the research team notes that avatars or digital copies of such human representatives are AI-based computer generated representation of people. They further can have the increased capability of filling in the void of an interactive assistance that a majority of shoppers demand.

A recently conducted survey regarding online shopping has concluded that nearly 62% consumers never complete the sale when made to the final step because of no real-time support or service. The survey further noted that more than 90% of these shoppers demanded a real-life sort of interactive assistance during their entire shopping process. Avatars, when being implemented in the right manner can fill the void at a fraction of the cost with the current advancements being made in the AI sector, as the team notes.

The team argued that a comprehensive analysis on these avatars closely corelates a misaligned distortion between the form and behavioral realism of the latter. Behavioral realism in this context refers to the “Avatars” intelligence and how close it resembles to the human condition. The team noted that getting a close resemblance between these two factors are extremely pivotal for a rapid adoption rate. When the physical and behavioral aspects of these Avatars sync up, the effectiveness of these Avatars are considered extremely consistent and the team recommends the following factors for a true adoptive rate – timing, form realism, behavioral realism, form-behavioral realism alignment, and situational factors and context.
