Curcumin integrated nanoparticles are found to inhibit cognitive decline and also reverse the damage. This finding is a new breakthrough in research being conducted on Alzheimer's disease. As per the current study, the new formulation will provide promising solutions for Alzheimer's disease. Additionally, curcumin compound suppresses pathological factors such oxidative stress and inflammation that occur in the Alzheimer's patient and also reduces amyloid plaques formation in the brain.
Enticingly, the compound is also being tested against halting the spread of genital herpes through the same delivery method. The use of an encapsulated nano formulation helps with better absorption of curcumin in treating genital herpes (HSV-2). It is found that reduction in the inflammation lowers the susceptibility to HIV and other STIs in the genital herpes sufferers. The vulnerability to genital herpes is high in women as the viral & bacterial infections in the female genital tract (FGT) damage the mucosal barrier. Curcumin is thus is the best option to lower genital inflammation and control against HSV-2 infection as well as to assist in preventing HIV infection.
