The former head of BARDA, Dr. Rick Bright, had registered a complaint in the month of May cautioning about lack of borosilicate tubing by key pharmaceutical tubing suppliers. He had proposed that the administration should immediately plan out strategies in order to avoid such shortages. He said that around two years will be required to manufacture enough vials to meet the US vaccine requirements. This sort of delay will lead to dangerous consequences.
The senior director of Drug Information and Support Services at the University of Utah, Erin Fox, commented that despite of the urgency the manufacturers should keep safety and quality in priority as in this stage negligence cannot be tolerated.
