The highest COVID-19 patients are being detected in America. As the pandemic is spreading rapidly in the region, the requirement of ventilators is increasing in the region in order to save the lives.

To deal with this crisis, the veterinarians in the US are taking up the initiative to donate ventilators to save the lives.

Earlier this week, at least four ventilators were donated by the Animal Medical Center of the New York City to New York-Presbyterian Hospital.

There was a tweet from the Animal Medical Center that “As a leading veterinary hospital, our work is deeply entwined with the human health community in New York City, and we are proud to stand in solidarity with the tremendous effort they are undertaking to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.”

The staff veterinarian with the VCA Columbia Animal Hospital at Center Park, Dr. Emily Stefan, commented that the animal ventilators are re-purposed form of human ventilators. She further said that it doesn’t surprise her that in such a condition that any vet would think twice to give up the ventilator. It is not unusual that the veterinary hospitals have equipment that can be used for human wellness also. The equipment is costly and thus not all hospitals can afford.

The American Veterinary Medical Association told FOX45 that medical equipment and other supplies are being donated by the veterinarians across the country to help out their human health workers.

It is not common that every animal hospital will have ventilators or other costly equipment but they are donating other essential supplies to the hospitals.

Dr. Stefan further added that they are now not getting any new equipment they are redistributing it to the needy people, where the situation is worse.
