Automobile pollution, particularly the hazardous pollutants emitted by diesel vehiclesinto the environment, affectsair purity and leads to many adverse effects on human health.Researchers have been engaged inlooking for an eco-friendlyalternative that releasesfewerpollutants.
During a recent report published in thejournal The New Zealand Medical, Dr.John Horrocks and Professor Nick Wilson conducted an independent study that was carried out to curbthe rising air pollution caused by gasoline vehicles just by replacing the fossil fuel with an alternative. Moreover, in the previous research conducted at the University of Otago in 2016, the emission of nitrogen dioxide by vehicles led to 2000 premature deaths.Similar health deteriorating effects were noticed after the people inhaled the pollutants emitted by automobiles.
Apart from adverse health effects, the carbon and nitrogen pollutants from diesel-powered engines result in climate change.More the use of diesel more is the carbon emission. Although filters equipped at the outlet for ignited fuel gas can curb the pollutants’ release, the filtration is not enough to prevent the increasing environmental pollution in New Zealand. Moreover, the regulatory authorities of certain European states have restricted the sales and manufacturing of diesel vehicles.
One of the basic approaches in mitigating the carbon emissions via the automotive sector is to adopt a scrappage scheme for old models of diesel vehicles and setting upthe land to safely dump the disposal.Scrapping will promote the customers to look for alternatives other than gasoline vehicles as it is not practical for all the families to replace their cars and other vehicles within a limited period. The researchers quoted that government should organize specific campaignsassociated with the norms of pollution control. Also, some of the leading automobile companies should usepollution-free materialswhile manufacturing vehicles.
