Heavy Rains In Manglore; City is in Yellow Alert

Cyclone Amphan is approaching the Indian Coast and its effect was visible in states such as Odisha, West Bengal, and some of the southern regions on Monday. Mangalore has been given a yellow alert ever since the city is lashed with heavy rains. In Telangana the effect of the storm was so intense that it pushed back a bus and it hit a tree after being pushed for a few meters.

The officials stated that heavy rains were witnessed in Malnad and in some parts of the Coastal Karnataka. The MeT department has forecasted rainfall for 3 more days. 

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) expects that the storm is all set to intensify into a "super cyclone storm" in the next 12 hours.

IMD commented, "It is very likely to intensify further during next six hours. It is very likely to move north-northeastwards and move fast across northwest Bay of Bengal and cross West Bengal–Bangladesh coasts between Digha (West Bengal) and Hatiya Islands (Bangladesh) during the afternoon/evening of May 20."

The fishermen have been strictly warned that they are not allowed to enter into south Bay of Bengal for next 24 hours. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed seventeen teams to supervise the approaching cyclone in West Bengal and Odisha.

On Monday, at about 8 am, the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KDSMA) issued an update that the thunderstorm with wind speed of 40Kmph in gusts accompanied by moderate rainfall at one or two places in Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Kannur and Kasaragod districts and Minicoy island In Lakashadweep.
