The latest report, thoroughly describedin a research paper accessiblein the British Journal of Sports Medicine, confirmed thathigh testosterone levels in young& physically active women’s bodyboost their running stamina. In addition to their running capacity, testosterone also escalatesmuscle mass and compactness. However, there is no noticeable influence on body weight. When consideringthe hormonal impact on the athletic performance in women, a controversy has sprung up at the global level asking ifthe competitionbetween the femaleathletes with higher levels of testosterone—an inborn rare condition—and normal female athletes is fair. Currently, the ratio of female athletes with higher testosterone levels to normal female athletes is 140 times higher as compared to the general population.
To ensure that testosterone increases the physical performance of women, the researchers carried out a clinical trial by randomly selecting 48 healthy and physically active women between 18–35 Years of age. The trial was extended for 10 weeks, in which the researchers treated half of the volunteer females with 10 mg of testosterone cream and the remaining half with a placebo cream. The aerobic performance of the volunteers was examined before and after treatment by measuring the stamina. The researchers calculated the time each woman could run until she reaches the point of exhaustion. Through the reports demonstrating the aerobic performance of volunteers, the researchers found that the exhaustion time of female volunteers treated with testosterone cream was increased by 21.17 Seconds compared to the volunteers treated with placebo.
Similarly, American and Canadian scientists carried out collaborative evidence-based research that indicates that a hormone, specificallyrecombinant human growth hormone (rhGH), can inverse epigenetic aging in humans. To confirm if the epigenetic aging can be reversed, the researchers selected nine volunteers and injected DHEA—a growth hormone. Along with this growth hormone, the researchers recommended volunteers to take two diabetes-controlling drugs, as DHEA has been supposed to provoke the disease. After monitoring the volunteers over one year, the scientistsdiscovered that in seven out of nine volunteers, the fat accumulated in the thymus had lost and healthy tissue began to regrow.
