On Monday, the Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced that the country will lift the state of emergency for Tokyo and remaining four areas. The prime minister also suggested that if the number of infections pace up then the lift can be reverted.

As the cases of infections were declining the country had loosened the lockdown implementations in most of the country on May 14 leaving Tokyo and four other prefectures.

Other comments made by Abe include that the complete stimulus amount from the two economic packages have chances to surpass 200 trillion yen. But it should be noted that in order to return to normal life a considerable amount of time will be needed as to control the infection rate is the primary task as of now.

Furthermore, he commented that the country had managed to control the infection rate in just one and a half months and this was the evidence of the power of “Japan Model”.

The economy minister of Japan had reported earlier that the key advisers had given the approval to the government to take state of emergency for all remaining states.

Japan had won the battle as there were more than 16,600 infections and 839 deaths but the drop in the rate of infections favored Abe’s popularity.

A government task force had assembled following Abe's new conference, and the decision about lifting up the state of emergency would take effect only after that meeting.

Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike previously commented that the capital will witness "stage one" of loosening restrictions after the state of emergency will be removed. This will allow restaurants to stay open until later in the evening and the libraries and museums will be opened too. In the later stages, theatres, cinemas, and fairgrounds will gradually reopen.
