Slowly the manufacturing plants are getting back into operations, which were eventually closed due to the outbreak of the pandemic.

Mercedes Benz India started its production on May 6 at Chakan and on May 7, the BMW Group's Chennai manufacturing plant started to function.

The luxury and the premium car manufacturers started their production in their manufacturing plants by taking all the protocols into consideration. Both the car manufacturers will gradually come into action as the situation will evolve in the coming days and they are completely following their respective local government regulations. Dealerships are also coming on board and are following the rules that are imposed by each of the companies which are mainly regarding hygiene and social distancing.

From May 18, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) owned by the Tata Motors will start functioning at its Solihul plant in the UK along with Slovakia and Austria. The engine plant of Audi has also started its operations at Gyoer in Hungary.

On May 8, BMW India launched the M8 Coupe and the BMW 8 Series Gran Coupe. Many customization options were provided such as choosing special paint finishes, interior trims, hand-crafted leather, and other choices of equipment of higher quality. The ex-showroom prices for the car models are: Rs 2.15 crore for the BMW M8 Coupe, Rs 1.55 core for the BMW 840i Gran Coupe M Sport Edition, and Rs 1.29 crore for the BMW 840i Gran Coupe.
