The Massachusetts General Hospital recently published their research paper that quoted that cutting more than 20% of sugar from packaged food and around 40% of sugar from packaged beverages could prevent cases of cardiovascular disease events such as strokes, heart attacks, and cardiac arrests events. The team published actual set of numbers based on the consumption of these goods and quoted that total 2.48 million cardiovascular deaths, 49,000 cardiovascular deaths, 750,000 diabetes cases in the United States alone could be prevented over the lifetime of the adult population.

The team behind the research study created a stimulated model in order to quantify the health, economic status and equity impacts of the pragmatic sugar-doused policy that was proposed by the U.S. National Salt and Sugar Reduction Initiative (NSSRI). The team quoted the partnership of more than 100 more local, state, and national health organizations that were covered by the NYC DOH as the NSSRI released a list of more than 15 categories of sugar induced drinks, beverages, and food articles in their 2018 dossier. The team notes that they would require government support in order to implement their created work and further require publicly aided support in order to implement their newly proposed policy changes.

The team further quoted that by encouraging the policies in the U.S. to change could reduce the $4.28 Billion total net healthcare costs and more than $118.04 Billion over the lifetime of their current age of the adult population (ages 35 to 79), in accordance with the model. The team notes that these benefits in total dollar revenue should be considered as a conservative number in terms of total revenue saved and the rising inflation rates and the pertaining dollar amount in the future.
