The Government of Saint Vincent and Grenadines officially said that it would become the first member country to export medical cannabis to Europe. These are members of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) and have received the permit for this export activity.

"Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is poised for the global business of the medicinal wellness industry," said the Minister of Agriculture of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saboto Caesar, at a press conference.

"We invite the rest of the world to participate. Our country will now provide a global opportunity to collaborate with other OECS member countries that wish to participate in the industrial medical cannabis industry." added.

"I, therefore, invite all member states of the OECS with the established medicinal cannabis policy frameworks to join forces for the sustainable development of what can become a world competitive sub-regional medicinal wellness ecosystem," the agriculture minister added.

The first shipment was exported by Caribbean Cannabis Company Trading as Medicinal. It is a local company that shipped the product to Europe.

The official said the company has many products that are sold locally, and also the company has worked as a team with growers to build a supply chain. However, very soon after this announcement, there was a recent approval to the Caribbean country for a cannabis export certificate.

The permission was granted for export after the import certificate sent by the Federal Institute of Drugs and Medical Devices got approved.

Also, Caesar said that the Caribbean country has tried for three years to get this permit in a joint effort with international agencies, shareholders, and allied Governments from both the public and private sectors.

The Vincentian Government said it is working along the way to establish a government platform for a number of medical wellness programs that will cover the assisted medical initiatives and traditional medicine for psychedelic drugs.
