Additionally, the standard high magnetic fields strengths of MRI units is 1.5–3 Tesla thereby making it mandatory that patients have no ferrous metals in or on their bodies as the chances of injuries during the imaging increases. MRI units are usually kept away from any ferrous containing units. On the contrary, the new mobile MRI system provides high resolution imaging quality without any risk and at low cost. Moreover, the device requires only a 0.064 Tesla permanent magnet without the need for cooling. It is a very suitable option for settings like mobile stroke units, emergency departments, and regions with poor health services.
The latest system completely changes the myth surrounding the use of metal-containing equipment around the MRI units. This low magnetic strength unit is the result of the request from the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). The need for such units for the battlefield injured soldiers is very important so as to help save their lives. The use of this portable technology is a promising when it comes to building a non-invasive neuroimaging with the soft-tissue contrast.
