Neuroprosthetic is growing rapidly on commercial grounds by providing a wide range of movements to both minor and major deformities of the body but as we know this type of prosthesis can cost a person ten to thousands of dollars. Moreover, these types of prostheses use metals that can be a little uncomfortable to wear all the time especially when it is for some delicate part of your body but researchers at MIT in collaboration with Shanghai Jiao tong University came up with a comparative delicate light and cost-efficient robotic hand which has been observed and verified based on the day-to-day task performed by a person living a normal life, for example, eating from the plate or pouring a glass of juice and petting a cat.

Zhao, a researcher fromTong University, portrayed the design and functionality of the product, with the support of associate co-authors from MIT, Shaoting Lin and Xiangyang Zhu, in the paper published in the renowned journal named Nature Biomedical Engineering. They claim that their design has not been finalized yet, but its working system is much greater and effective than the pre-existing neuroprosthetic as this is designed with a system that provides tactile feedback providing a realistic experience for the patient. This model is prepared with an elastomer known as eco flex that helps make it light, flexible, and easy to wear. Unlike other neuroprosthetics, the design of this model is exclusive by providing a simple pneumatic system that helps bend and position the fingers by receiving signals from an EMG Sensor and regulate the movement of the muscles. In order to reduce the weight of the prosthetics, the motor is designed to be wrapped around the waist.

Demonstration in the training of the model is automated.  Therefore, it takes only 15 minutes to complete the learning part. The training procedure involves performing daily activities while wearing the prosthetic hand. The team has been working tirelessly day and night to make the life of an entity a bit simpler by modifying and enhancing the product according to mass production, which will provide a huge benefit to society.
