Nissan, one of the leading automobile companies, has been in talk so wing to its recent disclosure of collaborating with a self-driving startup, We Ride. The Guangzhou-based novice company was established in 2017 and its operation centers are erected in different states of China and the U.S. With the support of an experienced team along with extensive domestic and international experience, this startup has been outperforming in the automotive sector.
Tony Han—CEO and CoFounder of We Ride—stated that the company has reached the standards equivalent to level 4 autonomy. The engineers at We Ride are very optimistic about the launch of autonomous driving. At present, the company is leading in the sector with its new era of technology. In a recent tweet, We Ride mentioned that such crucial investment in self-driven cars and vans would accelerate the utilization of autonomous driving into urban transportation, smart & safe delivery, and green transportation capability.
Tony Han said that he is very elated about the collaboration with Nissan. The automaker is continuously supporting the startup to develop self-driving technology. He explained that the startup has been accelerating the commercial launch of driverless automobiles. On an additional note, the team stated that not only Nissan but also several other automakers and tech companies are willing to invest in its concept of autonomous driving with a hope to deliver effortless driving in congested areas.
In an attempt to improve autonomous driving technology, We Ride launched its services publicly on the roads of China. So far, it has completed 147,128 trips by serving 60,000 passengers in the first year of launch.
A few weeks before, We Ride has agreed to join forces with JMC and ZTO Express (Chinese express delivery firm) to launch self-driving Robovan. Further on-road testing of the vehicle would be initiated soon.
